Russian operators are testing mobile chat

mobile chat illustration Good news for anyone who loves to correspond with friends.

The three largest mobile operators in Russia - MTS , Beeline and Megafon - announced the launch of a joint instant messaging service. The service is available to all subscribers of the Big Three and is available free of charge until July 1.

Mobile chat, if someone does not know, is an application that allows you to exchange free messages without using third-party services (like ICQ or Jabber). On the vast majority of Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, this application is already installed (and is called, respectively, “Chat” and “My friends”). For other models that do not support chat by default, a Java-and Symbian-client is provided. The list of devices supporting this function can be found on the pages dedicated to this service (for example, the list (PDF, 69 KB) from the MTS website).

As the operators promise, after the testing period is over, users will be notified of the start of full service operation and its cost.
