Corporations do not want to buy software from startups

Large corporations are ready to introduce Web 2.0 technologies, including social networks, blogs and wikis, only from the production of well-known vendors, and not some start-ups. This means that we are waiting for a massive buying up of start-ups from IBM, Oracle and other corporate vendors. They will implement in their systems the functionality required by the customer (see diagram).

In a recent study, InformationWeek Research interviewed representatives of large companies: they were asked which Web 2.0 tools and other modern technologies are most useful in business on a scale from 1 to 5. The results of the survey are shown in the diagram above. As we see, among the most useful tools are called wikis, RSS, joint editing of documents, unified communications and other technologies that are created by innovative startups.

The problem is that large corporations do not want to use start-up products . They would prefer that all these things be integrated in any one package from a reputable supplier, be it Microsoft, IBM, SAP, BEA Systems or Oracle. Thus, the massive buying up of Web 2.0 startups will continue.
