A survey among web developers showed that 40% of them use MySQL in their work. The market share of free DBMS has reached a record level, so that it seriously competes with commercial products from Oracle, Microsoft and IBM.
The developer survey was conducted by Evans Data Corporation. A similar survey in 2004 showed that 32% of developers used MySQL. Now it’s 40%. Thus, for two and a half years, the use of free DBMS has grown quite significantly, not only in amateur web development, but also in corporate systems.
Evans Data Group representatives have noted a trend that more and more web developers are using open source products: 65% in North America. At the same time, 69% of them are very pleased with the existing open database solutions. ')
