Some protection of online stores from kids and hooliganism.

I decided to share a practical introduction to the online store.

We have an online store selling goods delivered to the customer. Practice has shown that having made a mandatory, not even 100% prepayment, orders received an order of magnitude less. Having made a post-payment, ie, payment upon receipt by mail, there are much more orders, but a lot of returns — customers simply do not pick up the goods from the post office — the reasons are very diverse, and even if they called up the customer beforehand, they stop taking telephones, etc. etc. And returns from the post office are lost money, because the mail service has to be paid by the owner of the online store.

What I did: a functional was added to the basket, obliging to “confirm” the order made, if the payment method is chosen - “payment upon receipt by mail”. Confirmation occurs by sending SMS (to all the familiar services that represent these services fully). The cost of SMS can be set depending on the value of the order, well, we stopped at $ 100. (yes, part will be taken by the cellular company) Moreover, the client is informed that the cost of the confirmation SMS will be included in the offset of the cost of the goods.

Thus, the client is not psychologically afraid of losing money for the goods (if you already decided to buy - SMS is not an obstacle), if it was a prepayment, and the seller eliminates a bunch of unnecessary actions and spending on empty shipments. Costs have been reduced, and the work of sellers has been optimized, especially important for young startups and stores.
