How we drew the logo for Iconfinder.net

There are many different search engines on the Internet, for example, iconfinder.net , which finds icons using keywords. It so happened that the creator of the project, Martin Leblank, turned to us and wanted us to draw a logo. Turbomilkers were very happy about this turn of events and set to work with due zeal.

As a rule, search engines have a simple and minimalistic design, so the logo is the main and almost the only graphic element. We decided that it is quite logical to make the service logo in the form of an icon. But which metaphor to choose? How to show search for icons? We started with sketches.

A sniffer dog, a sheriff folder with loops at the ready and an anteater (because the icons are small like ants) claimed the logo's metaphor. Crazy enough! But we decided not to dwell on this and continued.

A series of sketches with magnifying glasses. First, the magnifying glass is a search symbol, secondly, the icons are usually small and magnification is very appropriate. It would seem that here it is! But again we did not stop.

Robots are exactly what you need when it comes to search and cool logos. Thus, the metaphor covers as many as three properties of an iconic search engine: a magnifying glass as a search, a magnifying glass as a reflection of the smallness of icons, a robot as a symbol of ordering.

We showed the client all the sketches and Martin answered: “You know, guys, we also like robots very much”. It remains the simplest - to draw a robot in color and texture.

The picture turned out to be quite alarming: as if an orange square with arms and legs (an icon) had been hiding and hiding for a long time, and the giant robot discovered it! Pay attention to how detailed and lovingly the robot is drawn - it is a pity that not all details are visible in small size.

Next, we wrote in a simple but stylish font the name of the project. Everyone was very pleased.
