The mini-conference "Hosting for site owners" was held
Recently I published on Habré the announcement of a mini-conference on hosting .
The mini-conference quite successfully took place. Presentations were made by representatives of Microsoft Ukraine , RedGraphic and NivalNetwork . More than 70 specialists gathered in the hall of the University of Culture.
Igor Shastitko , ITPro Evangelist, Microsoft Ukraine, made a presentation on the “Review of Microsoft Web Platform Technologies”. The report addressed issues of IIS7 architecture, the execution of third-party scripting languages, server security issues. Sergey also spoke about the ways of server virtualization and the non-standard use of the URL Rewrite module. A separate point was told about the Bizspark initiative, which entitles Belarusian developers to use licensed Microsoft software for free.

Roman Shaternik , technical director of RedGraphic, made a presentation “Website transfer: work on mistakes”. As part of the report, Roman shared a rich web-studio experience in transferring client sites between different hosting sites and solving problems arising in this connection. The most typical problem, according to Roman’s experience, was the gap between the studio and the choice of hosting. As a result, customers are faced with the problems of PHP versions, the impossibility of SSH access to shared hosting and the difficulties in managing domain names.
Sergey Karatkevich , system administrator of Nival Network, (and before Nival Sergey was in charge of the system administration department of Agava) spoke about the prospects of Cloud hosting and the change in business processes related to the popularization of such services. Services of "cloud" hosting sites already provide such market leaders as Amazon and Google. With the "cloud" placement, the line between shared, vps hosting and physical server rental is erased. The amount of memory, computing power and disk space on the "cloud" hosting can change dynamically.
The conference was held as part of the educational program of the portal IT-JOB.BY. It has already become the 10th event held under this program. In total, the program has already gathered more than 1,000 people. All activities of the program are free, and are designed for people interested in IT.
