The second stage of the experiment "Mars-500" starts tomorrow
Tomorrow, six volunteers, hung up with sensors, will enter an iron container (pipe EU 150 in the diagram) and leave there only after 105 days. No communication with the outside world. Food - from the space ration (tubes and semi-finished products). Alcohol and cigarettes are strictly prohibited.
The Mars-500 project was organized by the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation - the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences under the auspices of Roscosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences. It includes a number of experiments simulating certain aspects of an interplanetary manned mission to Mars: 14-day isolation (completed in November 2007), 105-day isolation (starts on March 31, 2009), 520-day isolation (end 2009 - the beginning of 2010).

After reviewing applications from 6,000 candidates from 40 countries, six were selected to participate in the second phase of the experiment.
