The Dutch site bouweenpc.nl has published the first photos of the reference motherboard based on the new AMD RD 890 chipset for AM3 socket processors. The chip of the board is that for the first time in several years the north bridge of the system logic is cooled by an active cooler.

There is no exact information about the upcoming set of system logic. But the illustrations show four PCI Express 16x slots, which in theory can work as 2x16 in the usual CrossFire bundle, and 4x8 in the Quad CrossFire variant. Also on the photo you can see four slots for DDR3 memory. Two-color paint, apparently, hints at the two-channel mode of RAM.

AMD RD890 itself is planned to be introduced to the market by the end of summer or early fall. Supposedly, a new south bridge will appear along with the chipset, which will receive a gigabit controller and an increased number of ports and USB.
