Monster Cable vs. Hangers: Friendship Wins

Good sound is a relative concept. Convinced music lovers who have the extra financial means, "prout" any on the subject of the desired acoustics, amplifier and, of course, audio cables. There is an opinion that expensive cables (necessarily gold-plated!) Are a guarantee of a desperately stunning sound, which (all other things being equal) cannot be obtained with the help of the usual cheap “lace”. At least, recently, at one of the “events”, I heard a lot of such audiophiles who advocate nemeryannye spending on cables. And, of course, wondered if it really is necessary?

Hell no. It turns out that the sound delivered to the speaker system through a conventional folding hanger (after a slight refinement in the form of soldering plugs to the ends of the “tubes” of which it consists) will be no worse than using, for example, a Monster Ultra Series THX 1000 Audio Interconnects cable. At least, ordinary people who participated in the experiment on the evaluation of sound “through a hanger and through a cable,” did not find a difference.

A letter from a participant in one of the many forums that discusses everything related to audio and sound - Audioholics Home Theater Forum . In which he described in detail the experiment conducted by him and his comrades.

Given: five not deaf, but not comfortably distinguished comrades, acoustics Martin Logan SL-3 (about $ 3.5 thousand per pair), two-meter cable Monster Ultra Series THX 1000 Audio Interconnects (inexpensive, about $ 100) and ordinary hangers , made of wire, which disassembled and "turned" also into two-meter two-core cables. By the way, at the expense of not so expensive Monster Cable. I started with excessively expensive, and in the experiment - so-so. The fact is that there is simply no difference between a $ 100 and a $ 7,500 cable. At least, this difference is not proven by anyone. What mom can swear is JREF .

So. The task before the "audiophiles" was set extremely simple. Listening to the same songs (previously “testers” didn’t hear them), at a volume level of 75 dB per 1000 kHz, the guys had to determine when the sound is fed through Monster 1000, when through a normal wire ( Belden ), and when through the cable from the hanger.

In the end, to distinguish the Monster 1000 from the Belden still happened in two out of five audiophiles. But the replacement of the Monster 1000 on the "hanger" did not notice anyone. And even after five tests. And now what? In the store for hangers?
