How to do it: check the form on the site and blocking buttons

There are things that can not be done if you do not want to lose a significant portion of visitors. Even if you have seen similar on all sorts of cool sites.

For example, you cannot block a button (make it disabled) to prevent the sending of an incorrectly completed form. Even if you recently learned to turn off the buttons. Even if so does your idol. This is a vicious practice to be eradicated. And that's why.

Who are we dealing with?

Imagine a cosmetics or gift shop. One where not the avid Internet users come, but ordinary people. Not fans of famous studios, not connoisseurs of design techniques, but rather managers, accountants and secretaries who are very common in our area.
')
For example, Maria Ivanovna, an accountant for a company that has not yet been ruined. On the computer, she works with an accounting program, legislation reference books, Word, Excel, and Solitaire.

“The sign of the ruble” for her is an incomprehensible enclosure that means some kind of foreign currency with an unknown rate. She doesn't know about Apple or Google.

She doesn’t have an ipod, cozy zheshechechka, or akkauta on Twitter.
But there is money and the desire to buy, say, a few jars of all kinds of masks, creams and lotions. With money and willingness to spend them, Maria Ivanovna came to the site, where she chose everything she wanted and pressed the "send order" button.

Ordinary story

Since Maria Ivanovna is on this site for the first time, she was asked to register. She honestly enters her first name, last name, email address, password two times, zip code, home address, telephone number.

In one of these fields, Maria Ivanovna made a typo. We do not know which one. Either in the e-mail instead of a dot, it got a comma, or her passwords did not match, or she missed one of the required fields. We don't know that. And the user too.

After finishing a little tedious procedure for filling out the questionnaire, Maria Ivanovna is ready to click on the most important button. She is not embarrassed that the button looks pale. She also does not know that "advanced developers" disable the submit button if some of the required fields are not filled.

Maria Ivanovna clicks the mouse button. No reaction. After three or four unanswered clicks, it dawns on her: “Probably, something is hanging or broken here, I often see this in my accounting program.” Maria Ivanovna goes to the next site. Or returns to the plate in Excel. Or she collects things and goes home, because the work day is over, and she already spent half an hour to collect goods, fill out a form and click the mouse to death.

This is because once the site developer decided to do it “like on that site” and dug out an example script somewhere.

For those who believe that the "one-sided article" - how to do.

For those who naively believe that the words “fill in all the fields correctly” will be enough or consider inexperienced users to be idiots: look at the comments. A lot of people rushed violently to comment, not even having time to read (or realize) what was written. Similarly, users miss warnings.
