Google implemented the Orion algorithm?

Yesterday, Google announced two innovations in the search results.

First, advanced snippets are now issued if the search query consists of three words or more. In theory, enlarged snippets give a more complete impression of the document found.

Another, more important innovation is based on the Orion search algorithm, which Google bought three years ago , and at the same time hired the author of the algorithm, an Israeli student Ori Alon. Obviously, in three years he brought his invention to mind. The Orion algorithm is able to carry out “expert” search and find thematically close pages, even if they do not contain the text of the search query.

In Google, Orion implemented the idea of refining search queries. The user is offered a number of other search queries that are thematically similar to what he was looking for (for example, [Robespierre], [Napoleon], [American Revolution], etc.) are suggested for [French Revolution]. These options are usually located at the bottom of the search page. Apparently, the system does not care in what language the request was made, Orion works perfectly in Russian, and in another 36 languages.
