“Smart Internet” as an alternative to network neutrality

Opponents of network neutrality received unexpected support from scholars from Stanford University. They offer to completely revise the design of the World Wide Web.

Revolutionary research is being conducted on grants from the National Scientific Society. The Clean Slate Design for the Internet program (“Designing the Internet from scratch”) has funded several pilot projects.

For example, the Ethane project models a corporate network of 400 machines, in which even theoretically viruses cannot spread. Machines within the Ethane network do not exchange data freely, but are managed by a single filter system, receiving permits for traffic of a certain type. Such principles of filtering can be implemented throughout the Internet, and then problems with spam and viruses will disappear.
