For the long-awaited update of our mail service, we have agreed with Google on the provision of UE “Trusted Programs” of Google Apps service. For you, this means that, starting from April, all 1.7 million mailboxes registered on TUT.BY will be gradually transferred over the whole of 2009 to the Google Mail mail service.

As a result, our users will receive a modern highly reliable service, much better protected from spam, with a huge box, new search features, marking and sorting letters, etc.

“Replacing the mail system is a long-awaited step and a logical continuation of the technological policy of TUT.BY. One of our basic principles is the acquisition of the best programs on the market and our own development only in the absence of those. The current mail engine was at the time of the acquisition in 2000, the best professional mail system in the world. However, Gmail’s features are currently better suited to users. At the same time, Google Apps is American software, as well as our current engine, and like Microsoft Windows / Office, which are used by most Belarusians. The complexity of developing a similar product on their own is dozens of person-years, after which nobody will need the software, ”said TUT.BY technical director Denis Ovalvalko.

A week before the transfer of the box, we will personally alert you by e-mail. On your part, no effort will be required for migration - all your correspondence and folders will be transferred automatically and will remain unchanged.

Those with whom you correspond will not notice anything. After transfer, your mailbox will still be called <You> @ tut.by!
