Cisco servers: official announcement

As expected , Cisco still found the courage to challenge such giants as HP, IBM and Dell. Director John Chambers (pictured) held a video conference yesterday, where he officially introduced the first Cisco server.

In his speech, Chambers said that his company was going to organize, no less, a new revolution in the market. According to him, the growing popularity of virtualization requires the emergence of a new class of devices on the market - with built-in VMWare, where everything else is also sharpened for virtualization. In a single server module, the Unified Computing System (the former “Project California”), Cisco has integrated the server based on the 64-bit Intel Nehalem EP Xeon, and the storage system and network equipment. Thanks to virtualization, one machine can run hundreds of virtual servers.

According to analysts, the entry of Cisco into this market is the largest event on the server market in recent years. They say that other players will soon have to release similar integrated products. HP has already responded by increasing investment in its network products division.
