A voice search engine has appeared on the web.

The online music catalog Midomi offers an original way to search for songs. In order to find a song, you need to connect a microphone to your computer and sing it. And the words do not necessarily know - the main thing is to reproduce the melody as accurately as possible with your voice or whistle. You can also search for songs on the site by their title or artist name.


A list of results appears in about ten seconds. In addition to the songs found, similar to a sung passage, other users who searched for the same song are shown. By registering on the site and creating your own profile, you can listen to the singing of other visitors and assign ratings to those who sing closest to the original. The creator of Midomi, Melodis, licensed the service about two million tracks, reports ZD Net. There are about twelve thousand user karaoke versions in the catalog. The service is based on speech and sound recognition technology, which is called MARS (Multimodal Adaptive Recognition System). When comparing excerpts of songs, MARS takes into account a complex of different parameters - pitch, tempo, a set of words and an arrangement of pauses.
