Secret chip in iPod Shuffle headphones

It turns out that a small secret chip is built into the iPod Shuffle 3 generation headphones. Presumably this chip confirms authenticity. Thus, Apple can force manufacturers to pay a commission for the production of shuffle headphones (ordinary headphones are useless, because the shuffle has no control).
