Activity indicators out of date?

As we all remember, from the very first moment of the appearance of PC-compatible PCs in our country, two or three LEDs, as a rule, were on them. Power, Winchester and sometimes Turbo (full or half frequency mode). It was quite understandable and logical. Gradually, the Turbo mode disappeared, and since then, the corps with two LEDs have become the de facto standard: Power and Winchester.

Since then, it has passed ... no, not many years. Several epochs have passed, if we count it as the yardstick Are these indicators sufficient now, even for the average user? In the era of the Internet, I think a very important indicator is network activity. Now the use of the network is often no less important than the use of the hard drive.
Of course, in the OS there are usually icons of network activity, hanging in the toolbars. Wouldn't it be better to bring these indicators straight to the body, in an “iron” version?

And a couple more questions out loud. Now, while reducing the cost of electronics, we are still "sitting" on the usual LED display parameters. It is quite reliable, costs almost nothing and everyone is used to it. But what if the activity indicator of the same hard drive will display, say, the percentage of disk capacity? A network activity indicator could show the current exchange rate or the percentage of maximum load.
