Overview of Jabber clients for Java-enabled mobile phones (J2ME)

In recent times, many have decided to switch to Jabber. And then the question arises which Jabber client to choose for a mobile phone? Not so long ago there was a review of existing solutions for Symbian 9. Unfortunately, not everyone has smartphones - therefore, I present a brief overview of Jabber clients for Java-enabled mobile phones.

Talkonaut


Talkonaut- is a free Jabber IM client with VoIP support (in Java version via Callback), also allows you to exchange text messages with users of MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and AIM networks. There is support for conferences, file transfer, traffic compression (Zlib). Of the minuses can be noted the absence of history.
The developers are Evgeny Korolenko and Ruslan Zalata from Tyumen.

Bombus


Bombus - Jabber-client for mobile devices. From the possibilities it should be noted the registration and management of an unlimited number of Jabber-accounts; add users to the ignore list, privacy lists, view and edit vCard, set priorities and status of messages, save history, traffic compression (Zlib). Also among the functions there is support for conferences, remote control of Jabber-clients, file transfer. As an alert, you can set the sound, vibration and light indication.

Nimbuzz


Nimbuzz - IM client allows you to communicate with users of networks Jabber, ICQ, Google Talk, Skype, MSN / Windows Live messenger, Yahoo, AIM, Gadu-Gadu, Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, Hyves. The client allows you to see the status and location of the interlocutor, leave voice and text messages, transfer files, phonebook backup. There is no message history, no jabber conferences.

Jimm aspro (Jabber)


Jimm aspro - based on Jimm'a code. The project has just begun its development, therefore it is still in beta, but it is developing quite fast. There is no possibility to register an account, view information about contacts, clients, not convenient entry to the conference.

There are also other mobile jabber clients with J2ME support, but they are not very functional or not supported by developers, for example:
MGTalk is a jabber client that supports some of the features of Google Talk. There are no groups, it slows down when entering text, there are no conferences. The latest version is 2006.
miniFring - IM client with Skype, ICQ, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, Twitter, Yahoo, AIM. There are no groups, you cannot watch the contact info, there is no conference support, you cannot configure a connection to an arbitrary server - only Google Talk.
