iRusRadio - Russian Radio Stations

A team of Russian developers FlySoft announced in the App Store its first iPhone application - a client for listening to the online radio iRusRadio .

With four years of experience in developing and publishing J2ME applications, FlySoft looked for the idea of ​​a non-volumetric, but interesting and sought-after iPhone application. In the end, chose a Russian radio for the following reasons:
- the popularity of radio aggregators on other platforms is growing (for example, the “VKontakte Radio” application is installed for almost 1.5M users);
- absence of a similar product oriented to Russian
users.

Work began in early January, on March 2, the finished utility was sent for moderation in the App Store and on March 10 received approval from the store. It should be noted that the iRusRadio application is completely free.



The program's interface is clear at first glance: you are offered to choose any radio station from the list and start listening to it online. Most stations have a definition of the name of the melody on the air - this is helped by the Moskva.FM information service, from which the song tags are requested automatically.

Near each station, it is indicated how many people are currently listening to the wave, and on the basis of these data TOP 10 is built.

It is recommended to use the utility on the Wi-Fi network, but my test tests in the range of the EDGE showed that the signal steadily holds if the cell tower is nearby. So the musical “Europe Plus” lost without interruption 5 minutes, and the verbal “Echo of Moscow” lasted as much as 20 minutes. The average traffic consumption was 500KB / minute.
