Something about Opera

Several, in my opinion, quite good methods of working with the Opera browser.

Mouse.

Work with the mouse "manipulator" in the Opera is thought out better than anywhere else.
1. navigation through the history of pages.
With a short delay, we press in turn the right, then the left button. And we get history (-1) or in Russian on the page back. Pressing the buttons in the reverse order takes you forward to the page.
')
2. navigate through tabs.
Clamp the right button and twist the wheel at the outside. A list of tabs and selekotr appears.

3. Close / open a new tab.
Wheel click on the name of the tab and it closes. A click on a free space opens a new tab. It is a standard technique, the same as in FF and possibly in IE.

Keyboard

The developers have made it possible to manage from the co-pillow all the functionality of the browser, even if the mouse fails. Consider the same functionality as described above.

1. navigation through the history of pages.
“Z” and “x” carry back and forward in history, respectively.

2. navigate through tabs.
With the help of "1" and "2" it is very convenient to include the next and previous tab.
Ctrl + TAB by default works more conveniently than in other browsers, switching 2 working tabs (similarly, alt-tab works in windows)

3. Close / open a new tab.
The standard combination of keys Ctrl + w / Ctrl + t is used.

Techniques to "optimize" sites: remove ads

For example, take a website with an abundance of annoying ads, for example vanix.net
From the context menu, select “change host settings” -> “scripts”, then remove the checkbox “Turn off JavaScript”. Click "OK" and F5.
All advertising has disappeared! The developers made an invaluable gift to us: on this site most of the banners load JavaScript.
To disable other banners that are loaded without JS (or we need JS on this site), do this: select the “block content” option from the context menu, now select the remaining banners, click ready.

Techniques to "optimize" sites: improve usability

I use as a translator pda.lingvo.ru. But the service is not very convenient, if you go “back” and enter a new word, the translation will not follow, and the old word will appear in the input line.
To fix this, select “node configuration” -> “Cookies” -> “Never accept cookies” -> Ok from the context menu. Now everything works as it should, but there is a side effect: it is possible to translate only to English and only from English. I think many this moment will not confuse.

Side panel
If the “Show sidebar switch” option is set in the design settings, a subtle vertical line appears to the left, which opens and closes the “side panel”.
It contains the main tools that facilitate the life of a web surfer (for example, bookmarks). Virtually every item has a search. Consider some of the tools.

1. Windows
Sometimes I have several tabs open. To find the right you have to think beforehand :-) In order not to think, but to know, we add the window tool. Here we see all the tabs in all windows, and on all the desktops of my favorite Enlightenment.

2. History
All obvious tool, but not all use it. I remind you that history is convenient :-)

3. References
Many times it was necessary to download a certain number of elements (zip-files, pictures, etc.) from any page. With this tool you can find all links to zip'y and save in a couple of clicks. It’s still easier than remembering how to do this ;-)

4. Notes
The tool is interesting because the corresponding control points are in the context menu. You can quickly insert text into various kinds of inputs.

Other methods of work

1. Templating
In the Opera there is a great opportunity to apply your styles for a specific resource. For example, one friend of mine uses this function to decorate a shoe shop for the working site of the company in which he works.

2. F12
Opera should be used at least for the sake of this button. The most frequently used functions are in a convenient menu.

3. Light version
Heavy site with a bunch of background images can be easily converted into a light version. To do this, use the same approach as in the first method, but uses a standard file with styles. In some situations, an indispensable thing.

That's all, but this is not all the possibilities of the browser. I want to emphasize that all these possibilities are out of the box.

Updated: Fixed several minor errors (thanks to habrausername).
Updated 2: moved to Opera
Updated 3: Receptions described in the comments:

Sync bookmarks: File -> Synchronize Opera. First you need to register.

includes one-button hot keys (disabled by default)

* back to original

mouse wheel - opens a link in a new tab, and also closes the tab

Opera also allows you to add new functionality to sites by pointing it to a folder with JS scripts.

Opera also allows you to quickly access any form, called this function “Create search”. For example, go to php.net, set the focus on the input field of the search function, right-click “Create Search”, in the window that appears in the “Key” field we write “php”. Now we open a new tab and in the address bar write “php str_replace”, wahl.

It was mentioned pda.lingvo.ru, but I use pda.slovari.yandex.ru/. Open this page, open the sidebar, and drag the name of the tab onto the sidebar. Thereby we create quick access to the translator by pressing F4.
