Tragicomedy involving wikipedia

A funny and at the same time sad incident happened last week with a fairly well-known US actor and comedian David Adkins, whom the public knows under the stage name Sinbad.

As it is now established, on March 10, a note on the death of David, invented by its author, appeared on one of the Internet sites devoted to the news of Hollywood. The very next day, everyone who was somehow interested in the fate of the actor read or heard this rumor from acquaintances, and the telephone in the Adkins house was heated by the calls of colleagues, friends and relatives who wished to express condolences to the family of the “deceased”.

In an interview on March 11, Sinbad assured that he was quite alive and even glad for such attention to his person that he did not often have during his lifetime. However, later he had to witness the amusing property of lightning-fast rumors on the Internet. Despite a refutation from the actor himself, information about his death was supplemented with an article about him on Wikipedia, after which the gossip received another powerful impetus and still lives.

Now the editing of the David Wikipedia note is temporarily closed and is a remarkable monument to the social encyclopedia’s vulnerability to such threats.
