Today, Opera Software has launched a public testing of a new technology called Turbo. Previously, this development has already been demonstrated at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona , and now anyone can independently evaluate another innovation developed in the depths of a Norwegian company.
The essence of the technology is simple: after turning on the Turbo mode, all requested pages pass through a remote proxy server, where content is compressed up to 80%, and the result is already transmitted to the user's browser. The result is a gain in both page loading speed and traffic consumption. In order to evaluate the difference, the acceleration rate achieved when the page is loaded is displayed next to the Turbo button. Also in the tooltip you can see the amount of saved traffic.
You can read more about the new technology in the labs.opera.com blog (a demo video in English is also published here) and Choose Opera .
