But what if? Skybeat on mobile phones

Does Java Honeycomb have audio access during a telephone conversation?
If yes, then
“Ippolit Matveyevich looked around. In the dark corners of the plagued
the janitor flared and trembled emerald
spring light. Brilliant smoke clung to the ceiling.
Pearl beads rolled on the table and jumped on
the floor. The precious mirage shook the room. ”

Suppose the world is finally rolling into a crisis. At the regular request of workers, managers of cellular operators with sharp teeth and their hair back, finally inflate the price of cellular communication.
Suppose there is a stratum of people willing to pay less for the fact that the voice quality deteriorates and lag appears. There is even an opinion that in the harsh Russian reality (fools, roads, GPRS) it will be closer to an asynchronous voice ICQ.
But we will call this “almost free innovative communication” - so that the ordinary subscriber does not immediately guess.

How could all this work?
The client program knocks on GPRS to the nearest server and "pulls" from there the user's contact list statuses. In general, everything is as in adults (i.e., as in Skype). When you call, all voice traffic is chased through GPRS (compressed to the original Skype several times when quality deteriorates) through the server to the client of the callee, and vice versa.
')
And now let's calculate how much the idyll costs, broken by audio conversion brakes, GPRS lags and the servers themselves.
Our starting point is the cost of a minute of cellular communication in the beloved “Big Three”. Let 4 rubles per minute.
What do we offer? Suppose our codec chases traffic, about 3-4 times smaller than Skype traffic . Suppose 9 MB / hour. That is, 154 kB / minute (yes, it counts 1024 kilobytes). With a megabyte cost , on average in a ward of 4 Kudrinobaks, we get about 61 kopecks per minute, which is 15% of the voice rate.

That is, the cost of the client part turned out to be about 7 times less. Of course, there is the cost of the server part - people, infrastructure, traffic. There is also a licensing, which the Holy Trinity has crushed under.

Most likely, the cost of cellular communication will grow together with the crisis panic injected on TV. The cost of GPRS is also likely to grow, but not at such a fast pace (the service is less in demand). So we have a promising increase in the separation rate of our Neo from the evil reality.

By the way, MTS made a billing of traffic on 100 KB , which is equivalent to about 40 seconds of communication.
