How to make Firefox open “news:” URLs in Google Groups

A recipe was published in the sandbox by an unknown author, which allows you to continue to open the mailto: hyperlinks in GMF using Firefox.

However, this recipe can be supplemented with an indication of another way in which, in the same Firefox, you can open the “news:” hyperlinks via Google Groups.

This is where this method is: area: //Ru.Blog.Mithgol/? Msgid = 2: 5063/88 + 4923d5c5
')
The view of this hyperlink reminds you that you can teach Firefox and the opening of “area: //” hyperlinks; but that's another story.

That's all. And now a little lyrical digression. It is amazing to observe how the meaning of the statement is transformed depending on its location. To put a short hyperlink on my own blog (maintained in Fidonet) would be quite justified in the comments. However, since it is impossible to comment on Habrakhabr's sandbox, I had to make a blog entry from the comment. In a blog post, it’s magically incorrect to link to your blog (after all, “Habr is not a LiveJournal and not a world crossposting center. Therefore, you don’t need to write the same news in different blogs and generally do crossposting.”). An endless deadlock, unless one accepts that the Habr rules prohibit crossposting only inside Habr itself, but not from the outside of Habr to Habr, and not from the inside of Habr outside of it.
