Kay Generator for Gift Cards iTunes Store

It turns out that about six months ago, Chinese hackers managed to select an algorithm for generating codes from iTunes Store gift cards. Almost immediately the cards went on sale. Apparently, at first, trade was carried out in small volumes, which allowed fraudsters to conduct business for a long time. But now the turnover has increased a thousandfold: At the moment, in the largest Chinese online store Taobao in the sale of thousands of such cards . You can buy them and replenish the balance of your account on the iTunes Store right now (until the old algorithm is locked). True, the site uses its own payment system, so it is not so easy for a citizen of Russia to make a purchase.

A Taobao shop owner says that for the first time, $ 200 cards were sold for 320 yuan ($ 47). However, he soon had competitors who used the same source of codes. Due to dumping, the price had to be reduced to 11 yuan ($ 2.60) per card. But even at such a price, profitability remained high, as the flow of customers increased rapidly. By the way, although the store owner always knew about the existence of a key-generator, the store itself is clean before the law, because it only places ads for the sale, and the seller sends the codes of the cards directly via IM.

Now that the information has been leaked to the press, Apple will have to change the algorithm. It is not quite clear what to do with the already sold cards, because it is simply impossible to cancel them, because there are many legitimate buyers among the owners.
