I registered the HomeLab.ru domain a few years ago, for a project that provides hosting sites with free access inside Zelenograd computer networks, and a minimum fee for going outside.
It was planned to be able to park user domains or receive third-level names on our domains for free.
One of these names was HomeLab.ru
However, during the development of the project, one aggressive company has enslaved all the Zelenograd grids. She brought cheap anlimit and closed all internal resources. Home servers with direct IPs are also in question.
The project changed its orientation, and HomeLab.ru lay idle.
Not so long ago a young man wrote to me who asked about the possibility of buying a domain. I reacted to the proposal with caution. I didn’t want to sell the name (which means something personal to me) in order to be sold at an exorbitant price at auction. However, a little later, they showed me a project for which the domain was sought.
With a light heart, I entered into a gentlemen’s agreement within which I gave my name for free, leaving in my hands the dns and the possibility of unlimited registration of third-level domains with a catalog of resources - cat.homelab.ru .
In fact, Homalab.ru is now working completely plaguey in my opinion the project. You can check it out if you are interested in how to make a “stink bomb out of hair, sparklers and such a mother” or something like that.
I think this is a good example of cooperation. Anyway, I didn’t have any ideas for a super-duper project for the title of HomeLab.ru, but in my opinion it’s not as fun as a cool neighborhood :)
I understand that the time of third-level domains is rapidly leaving (if it has not gone away yet), but for sure there may be projects for which it is inappropriate to maintain a second-level domain. Often it can be just such niche resources as HomLabs. Such a domain will suit any website dedicated to handmade creativity. Any freelancer or lone hairdresser is the owner of his home lab.
On cat.homelab.ru it is indicated how to contact me, habropochta is also suitable. I will provide you with a free domain name and mailbox on the basis of gmail. You can tie your hosting, you can make a redirect to any other name.
An address such as blackbox.homelab.ru may be a good option for an ftp server if you are hesitant to distribute to everyone ah-pee. (not for hosting child pornography)
I will also provide hosting for a business card site for free.
