Breakdown of the OCZ ATV 4GB flash card or who is USB MEMORY BAR?

Well, you never know what happens - stuck again. I tried to connect to the USB 1.1 port on the keyboard - the result is the same.
Looking in the manager of the connected USB devices, I found that my ward, without my knowledge, changed the manufacturer and the name. Now he calls himself incomprehensible USB MEMORY BAR USB , and the vendor considers Silicon Motion, Inc. .


Looking for similar problems on the Internet, I came across an optimistic message about the possibility of restoring a flash drive using a programmer. I downloaded the SMI SM32x H0328 utility , read the instructions and started doing everything on it.

From the previous 2 pictures you can see the differences in the settings. A possible reason for this behavior is damage to the initialization file or chip failure.

Overwriting the init file

I could not recover the USB flash drive by overwriting the initialization file through the SMI SM32x H0328 utility. Apparently the flash drive went into the "read-only" mode and did not allow to write new settings.

Warranty Exchange

After this failure, I continued to search for other methods of recovery and came across a post in the OCZ forum on this issue, where it is indicated that this case is a guarantee and the flash drive can be replaced with the seller or under warranty in the OCZ office.

So now I’m waiting for the road to the OCZ office to replace a flash drive with a workable one.

My request was redirected to the support center in Germany, after which I received a notification in which the identifier was specified to check the processing status of my case and the address for sending the flash drive for exchange.

I sent the flash drive to the address specified in the Netherlands, and it cost only 70 rubles, which is much cheaper than buying a new flash drive.

Today my flash drive arrived safely to me, if I had indicated the working address right away, she would have arrived a month ago, and the courier would come 3 times during office hours to my home. Specify the address where you are in business hours, then the parcel will arrive to you faster.

OCZ warranty really works and is very decent.
Do not throw out the USB flash drive if you have a warranty on it - you will replace it.
