Multitouch for Windows Notebooks

In Habratopik, “Circular scrolling a la iPod on the touchpad” described how to set up multitouch on Synaptics touchpads for linux. But if in this system multotes and other charms were activated by editing the configs, the Windows solution was not so obvious.
The user Winter_mute has discovered the TwoFingerScroll program on the network, activating this function for XP / Vista and a description of the installation .

Further, in the form of howto:

1. download the TwoFingerScroll program from here . If successful, after its launch, you will be informed that multitouch is activated and will be offered to reboot.
2. if the program issues a “Synaptics kernel driver keys missing”, delete the old touchpad drivers, put the modified version from here and go back to step 1.
3. Voila, multitouch works (TwoFingerScroll should hang in the tray). Customize at will and forget about the buttons under the touchpad and scroll zones.
')
PS Under Vista Vista, it worked right away for me, but for Windows Se7en I had to install the driver mentioned above. However, if you need “circular scrolling”, you will have to install the modified driver anyway - this option does not work in TwoFingerScroll at the moment.

UPD. Judging by the comments, the above described does not work for everyone. Apparently, not all touchpads (primarily on relatively old laptops) support multitouch "physically."
