Experience using Advizer

In early December 2006, the new contextual advertising system in Russia, Advizer , was announced. The system promised to work on the basis of the Runner model through the system of partner sites, providing high-quality protection against click fraud.

Since the prospects for this network have so far been uncertain, Advizer’s real usefulness could only be determined through experience, which I tried to do. For the test, I began to place contextual advertising through the Advizer system. A few conclusions and comments:

- The number of advertisers is small at the moment. Each advertiser is given an account number, which apparently go in a row. At the time of my registration in December, account number 33 was issued to me, now (March 17, 2007) when registering the second account, account number 207 was issued. If we estimate the number of actually working accounts at 25-50% of the total, then the number of advertisers is probably 50-100 people.

- Poor help . All help (FAQ) consists of 1 question - “I did everything, but there are no visitors on my site. What is the matter ?! ”and, accordingly, 1 answer -“ Perhaps you have set too low a price for going to your website for the selected key word. ”

- Fast technical support through the built-in form of communication. In my request for a specific error with the display in FireFox answered within a few hours.

- Good ajax interface . It works quickly, almost the entire interface works without page reloads.

- Several ways to recharge . Provides bank transfer, transfer through Sberbank, Yandex.Money, WebMoney. Used the transfer through WebMoney - transferred quickly.

- Indistinct statistics . Provides information on the number of impressions, clicks and cost by day + geography and hours. No traffic sources.

- It is not clear where the traffic comes from . Here are the answers to my request about the sources of technical support: “We attract search traffic, which is redirected to our results pages (for example, www.searchweb.ru ) or to similar sites of our partners. These pages show ads. ” . Personally, I see the creation of doorways and the laundering of traffic behind this phrase (which, by the way, was supposed in the comments ).

In fact, traffic came from 2 sites:
- blacksearch.spb.ru
- www.searchweb.ru

Both sites are implemented as pseudo search. This allows you to achieve very high CTR - according to statistics, it ranged from 25% to 100% on different days. My best experience with real ads allowed me to reach a CTR of 12% earlier in Yandex.Direct and Runner.

- Low quality traffic . According to the characteristics of the traffic in general coincides with the audience Runet - on parameters such as geography; browser; use javascript and flash. Unfortunately, a detailed comparison can not be done - the number of transitions from the system is small.

But unfortunately the quality of incoming visitors is rather low. To assess the quality of traffic, I use 2 main indicators:
- viewing depth
- achievements of goals.

If Advizer doesn’t significantly lag behind other sources in depth views, the result is very poor in achieving goals. For this project, an unusually high percentage of goal achievement in the Runner was interesting, although it usually accounts for 50-80% of the goal achievement with Yandex.Direct.

- Minor number of transitions . During the same period, referrals from Yandex and Runner for the same keywords were 10-20 times more.

If you try to draw a conclusion on the system, it is now ineffective either for making money or for attracting traffic . We hope that in the near future it will be able to transform into something more definite.
