New iMac and Mini: a look outside and inside

Appleinsider using Macminicolo presented an overview and testing of the new generation Apple iMac and Mac mini that was recently purchased.
The design of these computers revealed several curious nuances ...

Mac mini

First of all, packing attracts attention.
On the Mac mini box, in addition to the actual image of the back of the computer, there is a new iLife'09 logo and an intriguing “Advanced Nvidia Integrated Graphics” badge:

After opening the box inside, in addition to the most elegant computer, whose appearance did not undergo any significant changes, documentation, discs with the system and applications, an external network adapter and a novelty - an adapter from the mini-DVI port to the standard DVI connector:

Macminicolo has placed the old Mini on top of a new one to compare the back wall of computers.
As mentioned earlier, the new Mini has one more USB port, FireWire is now 800 (instead of 400), and in place of a large DVI connector, two sockets for mini-DVI and a proprietary Apple Mini DisplayPort appeared.
Here's what these innovations look like:

Inside, too, there have been some changes. For example, memory slots are now not perpendicular, but parallel to the front panel:

iMac

As in the case of the Mini, a new iLife'09 logo is found on the iMac package (instead of the “flower-like” iLife'08 logo), as well as the screenshot of OS X Leopard on the new iMac instead of OS X Tiger on the old computer:

There are four USB 2.0 ports on the back of the computer (one less than the new Mini), a FireWire 800 port and a Mini DisplayPort connector instead of DVI:

Structurally, the new iMac is made almost the same as the previous version. But there is one curious detail.
Now the bottom edge of the stand is made in the form of a slightly tapering wedge, which gives a certain elegance to the look of the new iMac:

The screen of the new iMac remained glossy, but its glare slightly decreased, and the color temperature shifted to a “warmer” area. The iPhone screens have undergone a similar change: the iPhone 3G has less glare and displays colors that are somewhat softer and warmer than in the 2G version. Obviously, such a slight change will benefit the new iMac, because many users of Apple all-in-one computers have been annoyed by the introduction of glossy displays that are too reflective. However, in the photo the glare on the screen of the new iMac (on the left) is no less than on the old one (or even almost more):

In the configuration of the new iMac are Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard shortened. The last fact personally seems doubtful to me, because a full-fledged keyboard with a digital block on the right looks like a more convenient solution than such a “notebook” version:

Testing

And finally, it will not be out of place to bring the latest test results of new and old iMac and Mac mini.
Comments, as they say, are superfluous - the diagrams speak for themselves:
