Audiotag.info - new music recognition service

Alexander Radzishevsky, the owner of the notorious resource www.websound.ru , recently opened the AudioTag service, which allows you to find out the name of the artist and the name of the composition from a small fragment of the composition - just download a 15-30 second excerpt (or the entire composition).

The service is based on a complex audio recognition mechanism that combines the technology of audio prints and a large base of audio-musical data. When you upload a file, a special algorithm converts it into a so-called “audio fingerprint”, which is used to search the database. As a result of this recognition, one or more candidate tracks are detected that match the processed file with a certain probability.

The author does not reveal the secrets of the algorithm for creating casts and the source of the musical base. However, as for the first, they already exist (although I don’t understand how this miracle works, but in form it is something like MD5), and on the second question, the resources of some “familiar” online store may have been used - after all, a million tracks are a lot, and hardly Alex keeps in his personal archive so much pop music :)
