Supercomputer "Skif" Joint project of Russia and Belarus

It was made by experts of the Institute of Software Systems (IPS) named after AK Alamazyan of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems (UIIP) of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

“For the first time in the past 25 years, such a major breakthrough in information and communication technologies has been accomplished in domestic science. Created under the program of the Union State, the fourth row of the Skif computer family is technologically at the top of the global supercomputer industry. According to a number of indicators and know-how, our “Skiffs” are superior to their foreign counterparts, ”says the director of the IPS, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Abramov.

The fourth-generation Skif is capable of performing several tens of trillions (one trillion to ten to the twelfth) of operations per second; its power requires the power of a small power plant, and a small lake for cooling. Such a supercomputer costs about $ 100 million, according to rian.ru.
