I rarely write something on Habré that is not related to the project itself, but I can’t ignore the topic of NFS :)
The fact is that today, thanks to EA Games Europe Vice President Patrick Soderlund, the details of Need For Speed SHIFT have become known - a game that not only fans of the first games of the series, but also the publishers pin special hopes on. By the way, back in the days of the NFS: Undercover “Electronics” announcement, they said, we will no longer release the same game under different names once a year, but concentrate on creating a fundamentally new project that will mark the beginning of a new milestone in NFS history. And it did not lie: already at that time, as it turned out, the London studio Slightly Mad Studios was working on a new game, starting its development from scratch. What they did, we learn only in the fall, but for now the gentlemen, the creators have shared a few screenshots and some details about the features of NFS SHIFT, which, by the way, has been under development for a year and a half.
Unfortunately, there is no gameplay video yet, but Electronic Arts is still generous with a dozen images:

Well, now a list of what the developers promise to please us:
- new graphics and physics engines
- strong bias towards autosimulation and avoiding arcade elements
- tracks are laid on the real cities
- more than 40 licensed cars
- full damage model for all gaming cars
- special mode of the view from the cab (cockpit view), as closely as possible imitating the "view from the eyes" of the driver
- great opportunities to tune the car (engine, suspension, etc.)
- external and internal tuning
- several game modes, including network
- the game will be released on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP platforms
Obviously, the goal of EA Games is not the release of something fundamentally new, but rather a qualitative return to the roots of the series and the conquest of the love of new and especially old hardcore racing lovers. And if everything will be as promised by Mr. Soderland, the game has every chance to return the faith of hardcore fans of the NFS series to justice and heaven on Earth. Personally, I believe, hope and wait.
PS: Of course, not everyone believes that NFS will ever become a trump. But, you know, personally in me, the fact that the guys from Slightly Mad Studios at one time had to do with GT Legends and GTR 2, still gives hope.
