Wiki added to Oxford English Dictionary

If it seems to you that the word Wiki is not of English origin, then you are right. But, now the Wiki is an English word. This word appeared in Hawaii, and has now been added to the online Oxford English Dictionary (OED) along with 287 neologisms.

“We followed this word for several years, examined its origin, and finally decided that it was time to include it in the dictionary,” says OED editor-in-chief John Simpson.

In Hawaiian, the “Wiki Wiki” means “quick,” but now this word has a completely different meaning: now the site model is called this way, the content of which the user can change.

The most famous example is the popular Wikipedia Internet Encyclopedia. Graeme Diamond, the editor-in-chief of the new OED words, said that the new concept of “wiki” would be very good in the dictionary with a 120-year-old tradition.
