Visualization of information and statistics

It so happened that from time to time I have to work with statistics, and therefore ask the question "In what form is it better to present it to other people?" Therefore, today I will tell you about some very original ways of visualizing various kinds of statistical data.



To begin with, I will give an example of one visualization done with Processing .

It is based on the annual statistics of the people and organizations most covered by the New York Times, and the links between them are shown by lines.

The second way, perhaps the most non-original, however, he also deserves attention. For example, take the service Lovely Charts , which, like its competitors, allows you to build diagrams, site maps and diagrams online. The UUrold program visualizes statistics and binds it to different politically units. This is realized by the "add-on" of a three-dimensional diagram above the political map of the world. A special player is built into the program, and if, say, the statistics have been collected for several years in a row, by changing the height of the chart, you can observe in real time how it has varied from year to year. Tripping. Trimaping appeared as early as the beginning of the 90s, but has not received wide distribution even today. Initially, trimaping was used to visualize data on disk space, but subsequently for other purposes. The essence of this method of visualization is to represent a hierarchical (tree) system in the form of nest-rectangles. Each rectangle, with a similar visualization, has an area proportional to the statistical data. Often it helps to take a fresh look at the data structure. The most famous utility for making trimaps is the treemap 4.0 of the same name .
