In Moldova, the number of Internet users has doubled in a year
The number of Internet users in Moldova over the past year has doubled to 459.5 thousand, the press service of the National Agency for Telecommunications and Informatics (NRATI) said. Broadband access has only 4.6% of their number.
The monthly fee for the local area access services per month is from 80 to 160 lei (1 lei = 2 rubles). Access using ADSL technology at a speed of 256 kb / s costs an average of 250-300 lei per month.
According to NRATI, in 2006, 41 companies licensed to provide data transmission and Internet access services worked in Moldova, another 17 companies were engaged in the resale of access services through local networks. Agency experts believe that this year the growth rates of broadband connections will be higher than those of dial-up. For the past few years, the local provider market has shown the following dynamics: in 2004 it grew by 5.5%, in 2005 - by 35.2%, in 2006 - by 49.5%.
