The best job in the world

The tourism organization Tourism Queensland in the Australian state of Queensland announced a short list of candidates for the post of superintendent of Hamilton Island, part of the coral reef ridge off the northeast coast of Australia. The short list of 50 candidates includes citizens of 22 countries, including the USA, Great Britain, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and India. The representative of Russia, which currently ranks 20th in the number of votes, also made the list. Each of the applicants is represented by a one-minute video.
Tourism Queensland announced a competition for the position of caretaker of Hamilton Island in January 2009. In total, the company received 34.7 thousand resumes from 200 countries. This post is advertised by Tourism Queensland as “the best job in the world”. The duties of the caretaker include feeding turtles, maintaining an online blog, video and photography of the surroundings. According to employers, the fulfillment of these duties will take no more than 12 hours per month. Work is provided for six months with payment in the amount of 150 thousand Australian dollars for the entire period.
