A historic moment has recently come - the statistics at
www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp states that in January 2009 there were the following browser share browsers for the Internet:
FF = 45.5%
IE6 + IE7 + IE8 = 44.8%
If we consider that according to statistics, the share of OS Windows is about 90%, then:
1) with IE, apparently, everything is really bad, despite the fact that there is a powerful corporation behind it, which uses certain efforts
2) you can be happy for the growth of literacy - more than half of Windows users are able to compare the usability of different browsers and install the one that they like more.
