windows 7 and non pnp devices

I will say in advance - maybe I did not carefully read the articles on Windows 7, but this was a discovery for me.

A small preface. I have installed Windows 7, use it as the main system, there is still a dying vista, which simply does not have time either to be restored or deleted. Internet - cable.

It was turned off last night due to lack of money in the account.

Well, the salary was not yet, the Internet is needed. I clearly remember that on one of my e-wallet there is exactly a missing amount. It remains to connect to the Internet and transfer money. Of all the available Internet connections, my old Siemens C65 remained in conjunction with the IrDA port connected ...

')

Yes Yes. It is through the COM port. Having turned on the port in the BIOS, by analogy with vista and xp, I start looking for something like “add a device” in the control panel. Found, but manually specify the device I need is impossible. The OS itself is looking for a device and, if it finds it, it connects it. After 15 minutes of searching, my patience ran out, and I tried to find at least something in the certificate. And I found something a bit close on the subject.

In the Install a game controller article, there are no ports supported for Windows 7.

I understand that if the device is connected to the COM port, and working with it is based only on the driver, i.e. It does not have an additional program that works directly with the com port - it will not be possible to connect.

PS I really hope that I'm wrong, and I just did not find what I was looking for. Correct me if this is the case.
