The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the third reading the law “On Amendments to Articles 146 and 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation”, according to which a violation of copyright and related rights is considered a serious crime. According to the text of the document, now the fines for illegal use of copyright objects are increased to 500 thousand rubles.
The draft law, according to which two amendments were made to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, provides for particularly severe cases of copyright infringements to increase the maximum term of imprisonment from five to six years.

Recall now a violation of copyright and related rights is considered a crime of moderate severity, and the maximum fine that threatens violators of the law is 200 thousand rubles.
