There was information that American experts were able to make the first operating prototypes of a portable hand-held electromagnetic grenade (Electromagnetic Pulse Grenade or EMP), which, in an explosion, generates a powerful impulse of electromagnetic radiation and disables all electronic devices in the area. The radius of destruction of the grenade is unknown. Representatives of the US Army casually mentioned EMP when they talked about the defeat of an office building or a small village. That is, the radius is from several tens to hundreds of meters.
It used to be believed that a similar effect could be achieved only by the explosion of a nuclear bomb or the use of heavy and massive equipment. According to experts, a portable EMP grenade should have been created only in a few years. But the article on Military.com cites the words of the Colonel of the US Army, the head of the new division of the Electronic Warfare Division. He says that such a grenade really exists, although he has not yet held it in his hands.
Or is it a standard way to force an enemy to waste time and resources on defense against weapons that you don't really have? ')
