Just Video Calls - VZOcall.com

In order to do something during the crisis, we ( videoport.ru ) made a startup in a startup. Namely, vzocall.com service that allows you to make anonymous and not very anonymous calls, with registration to vzochat.com and without it.

How does it work:

• If the person to whom you are calling has VZOchatID (registration on vzochat) and you know him, then you drive him in. If it is online, the connection will start immediately. If not, he will receive a notification about the fact of trying to contact him.
• If you do not know what-there-where he has, drive in an e-mail. The system itself will try to understand what's what, and send an invitation to the box. Wait here, do not go anywhere and he will contact you.
• The most interesting in our opinion. If you don’t want to stuff anything at all, just press the “green tube” without hammering in anything. We will show you a unique link that you will send to your interlocutor in any way, and he, opening it, will be associated with you. You just wait for it on this page.

How does this thing connect?

No flash. We have plowed a lot of years and made our own codec and transport (it turned out better), so after clicking on the “tube”, the plug-in is loaded to you. (windows only. tested in IE, FF, Opera). Plugin may even require to overload the browser. This is not what we came up with, honestly.
We have dozens of servers around the world and we guarantee less channel utilization and much lower hardware requirements than others (like Skype). The picture quality is definitely better. A connection can go directly (for example, if both of you are on a local network, video-audio traffic will go direct without affecting the provider) or, if everything is really bad, through our server.
If you logged in to vzochat.com and logged in on the site, then the call will come from your VZOchatID, if not, from the guest (the plugin has registration buttons, a login and a logout).
And, of course, you need a webcam and microphone. We recommend a headset, because there is an echo. Here we are powerless (for now). There are still echo cancellers, but that’s expensive. Although very convenient.

What to do with it all?

You can “make a video call” (it’s still difficult in Russian with terminology) to anyone who has Windows and a camera. The latter is optional. In the end, he will see you, and you only hear him.

Why did we do this?

• There is advertising.
• We popularize the widget (our plugin). Yes, we have a normal client application with normal functionality, but this is a very good option for an easy start.
• We popularize video calls. There are more barriers for people.
• Based on this plugin, we have opened an integration platform (video call management of your users). We allow to make video chat on the basis of our technology and infrastructure on any website. If you need something like that, write, agree. Not free, but reasonable. Your video server will cost more.

What's next?

We will see later. Maybe we can add an easy opportunity to do group conferences (we can organize up to 120 people into one asymmetric video conference), maybe something else. We will definitely improve the quality of pictures and sound. First, all the improvements will fall into the usual client, and then into the plugin. There will be a cross-platform version.
