Iron feature or software jamb?

On my laptop it failed and the left touchpad key began to work less often. I suffered for two days, today it seemed that I had found a solution to the problem: I swapped the left and right keys. It turns out, in contrast to the mouse, to work with the "inverted" buttons is quite convenient. The truth has arisen a petty, but vicious problem - now the click on the touchpad is treated like a right mouse button, and this is completely useless. Got everything back.

Interestingly, is it an iron “feature” of all touchpads or a software jamb of windows? And what are left-handers doing, accustomed to the reverse arrangement of buttons on the mouse - do they re-learn or do not use click on the touchpad?
