Mail.ru company reported that the millionth online diary was created on the project
Blogi@Mail.Ru . According to the developers, the number of users Blogi@Mail.Ru exceeds the number of registered Russian users of the popular blog-hosting
LiveJournal.com twice.
The Mail.ru blog service has already set records in its work: in May 2006, the millionth anniversary record was recorded, and in February 2007 - a five millionth record. Recall also that last year the company
reported higher rates than LJ .
During a telephone interview, Anna Artamonova (
antigona ), Vice-President and Director of Marketing and PR Mail.Ru, noted that at the moment, according to the official statistics of the company, about 20,000 entries are published daily on the Bloi@Mail.ru, of which 17,000 are in public access and 3,000 hidden ("under lock and key"). Thus, it is somewhat surprising statistics
published on blogs.yandex.ru , which, apparently, does not take into account all entries.
The main task of the blog hosting Mail.ru Anna Artamonova first of all identified a huge audience with such an unusual concept for many, like blogs. That is why, for example, the main focus of blogs.mail.ru is on communication: on the main page of the service are available the directory of communities and the latest entries in blogs (the so-called “live broadcast”). Service users are so sociable that if, for example, they create a new blog and write one post there, they will almost immediately receive a few comments.

Developers Blogi@Mail.ru in the calculation of statistics do not focus on the number of entries. An important indicator, according to Mrs. Artamonova, is the large number of comments that users leave. In addition, an important parameter should be considered attendance: at blogs.mail.ru it is about 150,000 unique visitors per day. Such statistics are particularly noteworthy also because competing services most often do not publish these parameters.
The main competitor in the company so far is considered the Diary.ru service, whose activity and attendance rates are fairly close to the service from Mail.ru. However, Mrs. Artamonova said that the company is not going to hide its ambitions and is ready to compete with all the leading blog hosting in the near future.
One of the leaders of the company
“Soup” Anton Nosik (
dolboeb ) congratulates Mail.ru with such indicators: he says that he is sincerely happy for the company and its service. At the same time, Anton Borisovich was amazed that the Mail.ru company was able to count the Russian users of LJ. According to official statistics, which is being prepared by
Six Apart, and so far only the Soup company is available, 890,000 “Cyrillic” users are registered in the LiveJournal, which is clearly not two times less than the number of users in Blogov.Ru. In April 2007, according to Mr. Nosik, "Soup" plans to open a general access to these statistics: while the company is engaged in bringing it into a "readable form."
The Mail.ru blog service, according to Anton Nosik, is not a competitor to LiveJournal: “Livejournal is a unique collection of interesting media profile resources of great social importance and dynamic communities. Mail.ru doesn't have that. ” Thus, blogs.mail.ru are competing with services such as Liveinternet, Diary.ru and Dame.
