About search

In connection with the appearance of the semantic web and repeated attempts to create a search engine for it, I thought about the essence of the Search phenomenon itself: “What is this?”, “What needs does it satisfy?”, “What usability should it have?”.

The term “information search” was first introduced by Kelvin Moore in 1948 in his doctoral dissertation, published and used in literature since 1950.

The problem of PI before all faced librarians. In order for readers to find documents of interest in the library collections, various directories and indexes are created in it.

My conclusion is:
1. We need to know what we are looking for!
2. Semantic search does not have to look like a query string, but rather as a directory for many different parameters (by place, by time, by tags, by topic by author, ...). Or a query string, but the search is not in content, but in a variety of parameters.
