Recently, Yandex
launched the Yandex.Answer service
http://ask.yandex.ru . At first glance, the classic question-answer service. However, if you look deeper, the Yandex web-based ideas presented us with an interesting concept of a new search engine.
Many of us
faced problems in discussing various topics on blogs and forums. Indeed, it is possible to get the right answer to the question asked, but this is very difficult. People do not know how to read and respond not to what is being said in the question, people answer without understanding the topic, people are engaged in advertising. I myself tried to
ask a question on the Yandex.Answer site (I deliberately asked the question in such a not very detailed form), the result is obvious - I never received an answer.
So, the main advantage that Yandex.Answer provides is a search for already prepared answers. Why ask something that someone has already asked before us? Why waste your time on comments to incorrect answers, if you can take advantage of the fact that people have already done it before and just use the fruits of their work?

If we evaluate Yandex.Answers from the point of view of search technology, then Yandex presented a rather innovative solution:
• the system searches for a unique search index (question-answer services, forums with consultations, LiveJournal communities);
• the system understands requests specified in an informal, or, as they say, natural language;
• Answers to user requests in part are not given by the search engine itself, but by people - other users of the Network, a vivid example of the implementation of the
UGC search idea.
The uniqueness of the service is as follows:
• services such as forums, consultations, “question” projects were indexed for the first time;
• Search by such a search index allows you to get to the result much faster than waiting for other users to respond;
• the search results are actually formed by the users themselves answering the question (the authors of Wikia tried to
do something similar). However, unlike the usual services of this type, when the answer needs to wait, then it is displayed instantly.
So, by and large, Yandex rolled out a wonderful tool. And unique. It can even be argued that this service is another step in the
development of UGC-search. That's just surprising - as Google did not think of this? More precisely,
thought of it , but in a different form
