In Barcelona, the annual conference and exhibition of the Mobile World Congress begins, at which the Opera company constantly shows various novelties. This time, there were no surprises: Norwegian developers announced the addition of a new technology called Turbo to the browser. The novelty works on the desktop version of the browser and, in brief, it gives users the opportunity to receive compressed data in the same way as when working with Opera Mini. The new technology allows you to compress traffic up to 80%, while unlike the mechanism built into Opera Mini, the user can work with familiar Web-2.0 applications, only faster than usual: Turbo allows you to compress all data, but leaves it unchanged video and flash animation, and also completely leaves javascript workable. According to Opera developers, the new technology reduces traffic consumption, while savings can reach 80%, and also speeds up page loading.
At the moment, the technology is offered only for corporate customers, but later users of home computers will also be able to evaluate the new function in action. It is not hard to guess that in the conditions of a slow connection, Turbo will be most welcome.
