Google has launched a new service - PowerMeter, which will collect data on the use of electrical appliances in the house and give tips on optimizing their modes of operation.
However, Google is somewhat ahead of its time. The fact is that in order for the service to receive data on electricity consumption, they must first be collected. And if with equipment that already has “brains” (PCs, TVs, projectors and even refrigerators with Internet access - the main thing is the presence of a wired network or wireless interface), everything can be arranged, then an iron or a washing machine cannot be “counted”.
So, Google still keeps PowerMeter in the status of a closed beta and waits for the reciprocal move of manufacturers of household appliances. If it burns out, then the concept of a smart home will receive another additional feature. ')
