I did a review of simple music widgets for inserting music into a blog in May 2008. In the review I wrote about Muzicons.com, Songza.com, Mixwit.com, Boomp3.com. The fate of the widgets is pretty bad.
1. Mixwit.com - retro cassette. Closed by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). They did not like the idea of using the search engines for music skreemr.com and seeqpod.com. The main reason for such a quick closure is that Mixwit is an American startup and the RIAA were the easiest to get to and most likely Mixwit did not have money for lawyers. With seeqpod.com, the RIAA has also been suing for about a year. Sicpod received an investment of several million dollars during legal proceedings, so he has the means to make war.
2. Songza.com is a global grabber. The bulk of the tracks played from videos posted on youtube.com. Owners of youtube.com did not like this deal - traffic is growing, and the end user does not even assume that the sound comes not from songza.com, but from Youtube. As a result, Youtube ordered to show a small video when losing any song. This killed the songza.com widget, because when inserting into a blog it would be necessary to insert a video to the player “into the load”. ')
3. BooMP3.com - ultra compact. I did not understand what was going on here. How to download or select music to insert into the blog? Apparently not the best of times.
