ReactOS - Open Source Windows?
Hello to all habroops! In this topic, I want to introduce you to the operating system, which in my opinion deserves great attention. Her name is React Operating System (abbr. ReactOS). probably many thought: "Another Linux", - No, I want to tell you. It is an advanced free and free operating system that is a Microsoft Windows XP compatible implementation of the OS. Toist developers aspire to make sure that all your programs and drivers that successfully work under XP can work under free Reactos.
The system is written on Assembly. Now the system version is 0.3.7, 4 versions have been released throughout the year. For such a project is not very bad. When I was still confronted with version 0.3.3, I managed to run it only on a virtual machine, but now I calmly installed from the image. The first thing I installed was Photoshop CS2, it was installed and works quietly. The developer’s site says that Microsoft Office 2007 works without problems, and even screenshots are provided. On the screenshots you can see that they launched Unreal Tournament, Quake 2 without any problems.
So far, I certainly do not recommend you to put it as the main system, but try it, you will like it!
Another fact that can not but rejoice that the majority of developers are Russian citizens. Who knows, maybe the future system will be the work of the Russians.
